Peter D. Regis

It is a story which ended almost 10 years before.
It ended with the following letter:

Peter D. Regis
400 North A1A 49
Jupiter, Florida USA

February 25, 1998

Dear zzz,

Included herein is a copy of a letter sent to my father by his sister, Justina Vaitkiene. She may not be alive today, but may have had children or relatives. I would greatly appreciate it if you made inquiries in her town to determine if any of these people could provide information or records concerning my father Petras Krizius.

I've also added photos and copies of letters and newspaper clippings relating to my military and professional life.

I think the last E-mail transmission I received from you was just before Xmas.

Sincerely, Peter Regis

The story started with some e-mails to me from Peter D. Regis. At this moment I am not able to trace back these e-mails, but I will try ...

Lyrics
Jim Reeves
Distant Drums
[Cindy Walker, 1966]

I hear the sound of distant drums
Far away, far away
And if they call for me to come
Then I must go and you must stay

So, Mary, marry me, let's not wait
Let's share all the time we can before it's too late
Love me now, for now is all the time there may be
If you love me Mary, Mary, marry me

I hear the sound of bugles blow
Far away, far away
And if they call, then I must go
Across the sea, so wild and grey

So, Mary, marry me, let's not wait
Or the distant drums might change our wedding day
And love me now, for now is all the time there may be
If you love me, Mary, Mary, marry me

Formalization

Simple things when formalized become complicated. Complicated things when formalized become simpler. If not too much formalized - see the first sentence. Formalization should be a tool not a goal.

It is an extended version of my own old "wisdom" ;)

Lyrics

Tammy Wynette
Stand By Your Man
(Tammy Wynette/Billy Sherrill, 1968)

Sometimes its hard to be a woman
Giving all your love to just one man
You'll have bad times
And he'll have good times
Doing things that you don't understand

Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
Stand by your man
And tell the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man

But if you love him you'll forgive him
Even though he's hard to understand
And if you love him
Oh be proud of him
Cause after all he's just a man

Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When nights are cold and lonely
Stand by your man
And tell the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man

Stand by your man
And show the world you love him
Keep giving all the love you can
Stand by your man

Tico Tico

The song Tico Tico could be a good idea for another collection project.
The previous projects are not yet finished... Should they be finished?

Lyrics
Tico Tico
(Portugese original by Aloysio de Oliveira)
English version by Ervin Drake

Oh, Tico Tico, tick! Oh, Tico Tico, tock!
This Tico Tico, he's the cuckoo in my clock.
And when he says "Cuckoo," he means it's time to woo,
It's Tico time for all the lovers on the block.

I've got a heavy date, a tete-a-tete at eight,
So speak, oh Tico, tell me if it's getting late?
If I'm on time, "Cuckoo", but, if I'm late, "Woo-woo"!
The one my heart has gone to may not want to wait!

Bridge:
For just a birdie, and a birdie who goes nowhere,
He knows of ev'ry Lover's Lane and how to go there;
For in affairs of the heart my Tico's terribly smart,
He tells me: "Gently, sen - ti - ment' - ly at the start!"

Oh, oh, I hear my little Tico Tico calling,
Because the time is right and shades of night are fall - ing.
I love that not-so-cuckoo cuckoo in the clock,
Tico Tico Tico Tico Tico tock!!!

JSON and Vodka

Today I have spotted on JSON and then on discussions JSON vs XML, for example, and elsewhere.
A couple of pieces of wisdom from related pages:

The good thing about reinventing the wheel is that you can get a round one.

And you think you're so clever and classless and free — John Lennon

And what about vodka?
Vodka is a name of a programming language. Just out of curiosity ...

Lyrics
Traveling Wilburys
Handle With Care

Been beat up and battered round
Been sent up, and Ive been shot down
Youre the best thing that Ive ever found
Handle me with care

Reputations changeable
Situations tolerable
Baby, youre adorable
Handle me with care

(chorus)
Im so tired of being lonely
I still have some love to give
Wont you show me that you really care

(bridge)
Everybodys got somebody to lean on
Put your body next to mine, and dream on

Ive been fobbed off, and Ive been fooled
Ive been robbed and ridiculed
In day care centers and night schools
Handle me with care

Been stuck in airports, terrorized
Sent to meetings, hypnotized
Overexposed, commercialized
Hand me with care

(chorus)

(bridge)

Ive been uptight and made a mess
But Ill clean it up myself, I guess
Oh, the sweet smell of success
Handle me with care
